Day Services
Horizons Day Opportunities offers a day service and Burrow Down Cottages offers a respite service for people with learning disabilities and other complex needs. Its aim is to promote independence and support the service users in all areas of their lives in order to help them to reach their full potential. Also within the grounds is Burrow Down House, which provides residential accommodation for fourteen people with mild to moderate learning disabilities.
Horizons Day Opportunities is a service offered to people with learning disabilities and behavioural issues. It allows service users to access activities on site and in the community with the support needed to give them the confidence to achieve their full potential.
Horizons has been established as a service that can provide day activities to service users that have found difficulties finding placements due to their complex needs and support requirements, in addition to their learning disability. Our dedicated and professional staff have experience and qualifications in managing: behaviour conduct disorders, autism spectrum disorders, anxiety, epilepsy and mental health issues.
Our small working environment, extensive grounds and high staff ratio contribute to the positive atmosphere. We like to make our service users feel secure and valued which encourages participation and achievement.
Horizons takes into consideration all disabilities, illnesses and conditions when planning activities to ensure the service user's safety and well being. All service are encouraged to use acceptable behaviour and language; all inappropriate behaviour is closely monitored in a care plan if necessary and a consistent approach is put into action, following a behaviour assessment. Communication is supported and encouraged at all times and learning is activity based.
